Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information inertia stores, why we store it, and the choices you have. In short: we keep the data your features need, we do not log message content, and we never sell personal information.
It covers the inertia Discord bot, the website at inertia.bot, and the dashboard, operated by the inertia team. Please read it together with the Terms of Service.
What we store
- Account basics when you log in to the website: your Discord user ID, username, and avatar, together with a login session. The Discord tokens behind the session are encrypted at rest.
- Server configuration: prefixes, module settings, permissions, staff roles, aliases, welcome and logging setups, and the other choices you make for your server.
- Records created by the features you use: moderation history (each infraction with the responsible moderator, a reason, and a timestamp), ticket activity, highlight keywords, and giveaway or leveling data where those modules are enabled.
- Aggregate usage counters, such as daily command and emoji usage totals. These are counts only, not message content.
- Premium status, including Stripe customer and subscription references, so entitlements follow your Discord account.
- Standard technical logs when you visit the website, such as IP address and browser type, retained briefly for security and troubleshooting.
What we do not keep
We do not log message content. Where a feature reads messages, the content is used in the moment and discarded: sniped deleted or edited messages are held briefly in memory, capped in number, and are never written to our database. Ticket transcripts are posted as files into a channel in your own server, and we retain no copy. We never receive your card details; payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We do not run advertising, cross-site tracking, or data sales, and website analytics, where enabled, is self-hosted, cookieless, and aggregate only.
Why we use it
We process this information to operate the features you configure, to keep inertia secure (rate limiting, anti-abuse, blacklists), to provide Premium, to diagnose and fix problems, and to respond to support requests. Where laws such as the GDPR apply, our legal bases are the performance of our agreement with you, your consent where you give it, and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service.
Where it lives and for how long
Data is stored on infrastructure in the EU, with sensitive fields encrypted at rest. We retain information only for as long as it serves a purpose: sessions until they expire, server data while inertia remains in the server (removing the bot schedules deletion, and re-adding it before that date restores your setup), aggregate counters as rolling statistics, and blacklist records for as long as the enforcement stands. No method of storage is completely secure, but we apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect what we hold.
Who we share with
We do not sell personal information. Data is shared only with the services inertia is built on: Discord, on which the bot operates and whose own privacy policy governs your use of Discord, and Stripe, which processes Premium payments. Beyond that, we would disclose information only where required by law, or where necessary to enforce our terms and protect inertia and its users.
Your rights and contact
Removing the bot from a server stops collection for that server. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We act on these requests once we can verify that you control the Discord account concerned, and respond within the time the law requires. The website sets no cookies other than one strictly necessary login cookie for the dashboard. inertia is not directed at children under 13, or under Discord's minimum age in your country.
We may update this policy from time to time, and material changes will be announced. For questions or requests, contact us in the Discord support server or at support@inertia.bot.
